Guide

Shortening a metal bracelet in 4 steps

This guide applies to metal bracelets whose links are held together by a clip, for example our titanium bracelets. Bracelets with straight pins are shortened differently.

What you need: the pin of a spring bar tool or a suitable small screwdriver, and a non-slip surface.

Place the bracelet so that the arrows on the back point away from you. If the tool slips, it will not prick your hand.

  1. Place the pinPut the pin into the round opening on the back of the link (photo 1).
  2. Push out the clipCarefully push the clip out in the direction of the arrow (photos 2 and 3).
  3. Remove the linksOpen the bracelet at a second point and take out the links you no longer need.
  4. Close the braceletPut the bracelet back together and press the clip back into its opening.

Tips

If you want to remove more than one link, take out about the same number of links on each side of the clasp. Otherwise the clasp ends up at the side of your wrist. In that case, repeat steps 1 to 4 on each side of the bracelet.

Keep the links you remove. If a link gets scratched later, you can replace it. And if the bracelet is too tight after shortening, simply put one link back in.

There is a separate guide for expansion bracelets: how to shorten an expansion bracelet. You will find new bracelets among our metal bracelets.
